The necropolis of S’Acqua Salida is considered one of the most important in Sardinia. The funeral area is made up of nine hypogeum tombs produced in two distinct sandstone rock banks arranged 150 metres apart. A fireplace and twelve cupels can be found on the rock bank of the grave group A.
The domus de janas differ in shape and size. Some of them have decorations depicting bull protomes, spirals and other motifs painted with ochre or architectural elements carved into the walls. They are equally distinguished for the presence of cupels dug out of the floor and different fireplaces.
In order to reach the area from the residential centre of Pimentel, take the road for Guasila, then after about 2 km, turn left onto the dirt track following the tourist signs. You’ll see the archaeological site after about 300 metres on the left.
