Nuraghe Su Casteddu de Fanaris

DJI_0345-frame-at-0m3s

The site sits on an isolated plateau in the centre of Campidano di Cagliari.

This is an imposing polyfoil Nuraghe. The layout of the structure is difficult to understand because it is mostly underground and covered by vegetation and crumbled material. Considering the fill in, a remaining height of around 8-10 metres can be presumed for the central fortified tower. A further eight towers will then be backed on to the central tower to create a fortress. Furthermore, there is a defence wall with at least 5 towers.

The Nuraghe is not far from the SP 3 leading from Decimoputzu to Vallermosa. We recommend contacting a local guide as private land needs to be crossed in order to reach it.
