Nuraghe Atzara

The monument is one of the numerous Nuraghe of Paulilatino but the dense vegetation surrounding it makes it difficult to reach.

The Nuraghe has a huge, soaring central fortress tower, with a remaining height of almost 12 metres, encircled by a three-foil fortress. Inside the central tower is a room with tholos roof still intact. It is also possible to access one of the three side towers. The fortress was also surrounded by a defence wall. Close to the Nuraghe are remains of a large Nuragic village and two tombs of giants.

Follow the SS 131 and take the exit for Bonarcado, then take the SP 11 for 4.5 km. The Nuraghe is on the left in the middle of fields at about 400 m as the crow flies from the road. However, it is essential to cross private land to reach it.
