The Menhir Reinamare is preserved near the SS 292. These kinds of monuments, also known by their more common name of “packed stones” that is, “stones planted into the ground”, are one of the most characteristic expressions of the stone age culture.
It currently stands at around 1.5 m tall in a small clearing used for grazing. Although the surface has no decorations, its vaguely phallic shape makes it an example of most common type of these monuments found throughout Sardinia, as well as the rest of Europe.
Travelling from Mara, just after (100 m) the fork for Monteleone Roccadoria, turn left and drive for 50 m along a paved road; continue on foot to the right, heading north-west and through a forest of downy oak. The menhir is visible from the SS 292 for those heading towards Mara.
