The menhir of Terrazzu or Luxia Arrabiosa stands not far from the town of Villaperuccio, on farmland near the intersection between the two rivers.
The area has at least fifteen hard stone menhirs spread around, as well as numerous examples of the presence of man in Neolithic times with the stunning domus de janas necropolis in Montessu.
Despite being damaged by lighting, the one at Terrazzu is the most important example of an imposing menhir in the area, standing at over 5 metres tall. Its main flat side is south-east facing as is the semi-convex one opposite with rounded corners, resembling the proto-antropomorphic menhir layout.
One of the names it is known by, Luxia Arrabiosa (livid Lucia), refers to a key figure in ancient Sardinian legends. She is often portrayed as a women or giantess who, angry because of the wrong inflicted on her, forcefully hurls an object which plunges into the ground and turns to stone.
Leave Villaperuccio along via Santa Lucia to reach the site. On reaching the hamlet of Terrazzu, the menhir becomes clearly visible on your left inside a small farm on the edge of the road.
