The site stands on the steep slope of a trachyte hillside, not far from a calcarenite stone quarry. Originally, the necropolis probably had more cave tombs which were partially destroyed during quarry work. 5 hypogeums, 4 of them grouped together and another slightly further away, have survived to the present day.
The tombs are multi-cell, with corridor, anti-cell, main chamber and side rooms.
On the entrance walls to tomb I, two protomes complete with horns, ears and head have been carved.
The unusual aspect of tomb II, on the other hand, are the decorations done with red paint (probably ochre). These are architectural motifs like half-pillars and niches.
The site can be reached from the town of Nughedu Santa Vittoria, heading towards the parish church of San Giacomo and by following the via Regina Elena. After about 500 metres, right after passing a waterhole, you will see some rocky outcrops on the slope to the right of the road and these are where the domus de janas can be found.
