High up on the edge of the plateau, the Nuraghe Alvu takes visitors aback, as they come along the trunk road SS 292, by its size and attractive two-tone appearance.
Those who built it used a white limestone on the upper part of the main tower, on top of the dark volcanic stone base and this still surprises those who stop to admire the monument.
Uncovered at different stages, the Nuraghe complex has an arrangement of external towers, a courtyard and a central tower. As well as the classic side niches and the stairway leading to the floor above, what is interesting about the latter tower is the preparation of a hearth with externally rounded wedges and, nearby, the construction of a well.
Follow the trunk road S.S. 272 from Pozzomaggiore for about 1.7 km and the site will be visible on land next to the road.
