Traditions, knowledge, flavours, sounds and scents of the Barbaracina culture immersed in a magnificent, picturesque context: a combination of nature and ethnography. The Park-Museum itinerary stems from the development and restoration of an old farm. It winds through megalithic walkways, centuries-old trees and Mediterranean shrub hedgerows. The dominating element is water: the S’Abba Frisca spring (fresh water) supplies fountains, waterfalls, jets and a lake.
The old farm inside the park is now the largest ethnographic museum in Sardinia. It provides a glimpse of rural life between the XVII and the start of the XX centuries. Along the way, it is possible to see the old shepherd’s house “Su cuile”, the blacksmith workshop with bellows from 1800, the manor house with its bedrooms, dresses, armour, jewellery, musical instruments, rugs and pottery. This is followed by the areas for wool production, bread making, oil and wine production and much more. In the section dedicated to artisan work and technology, there is a shoemaker laboratory, a carpentry one and some machines dating back to the 1930s and ‘40s used in the Dorgali area.
In the park, you can visit the vegetable garden and follow the sensory path with aromatic herbs. Lastly, there is a farm with wild and domestic animals.
In summer, the “Museo Vivente” (living museum) provides demonstrations of arts and crafts. For this event, the park comes alive with artisans and producers. The activities proposed include: baking Carasau bread, grinding wheat and lace work.
The S’Abba Frisca Park Museum is one of the main attractions of Cala Gonone and Dorgali. Located 5 km from their town centres, it describes the history of Sardinia with an itinerary suitable for the whole family.
