Sa Canna is an area in the district of Ulassai, in the historical region of Ogliastra, in the province of Nuoro.
The area can be found in a wood of the vast Oasi di Protezione Faunistica in Taccu. The geology of the area features the Dolomite rock typical of the Tacchi dell’Ogliastra.
The wood is mainly holm oak trees, with some large century-old specimens. The tall shrub consists mainly of strawberry trees, phillyrea, heather and Mastic tree. In the areas of low shrub and garigue, we see the appearance of rockrose, helichrysum and rosemary.
Sa Canna is located near a small stream, a tributary of the rio Baulassa which, following its path, flows into the famous Cascate di Lequarci. The place name refers to the top Bruncu Sa Canna standing 822 m a.s.l., alongside the waterfall.
Sa Canna offers a picnic area with tables, fire points, water points, small bridges and fences cordoning off the flow of water.
The site is an excellent point to stop off for a rest during a walk along the paths and routes that cross the area of Ulassai.
