To the north, the Santo Stefano hill overlooks the town of Oschiri. The site includes a Neolithic necropolis with 6 domus de janas, a dolmen, a Medieval church and numerous carved rocks. The fulcrum of the area is the so-called rock altar, not far from the church of the same name. The church has a plain facade with two entrances decorated with two human protomes carved in trachyte. There is an inscription in italics above the southern door in Latin and Logudorese Sardinian.
There is an altar opposite the church’s western facade: a granite rock with numerous carvings of geometrical triangular, rectangular and circular symbols. These are positioned next to one another on one or two overlapping rows, at times surrounded by cupels and with crosses engraved internally or alongside. There are various engraved rocks with symbols and cupels in the surrounding area.
Santo Stefano can be reached by crossing the town of Oschiri and following directions. Take Via Monte Acuto and turn right after the last few houses on the way out of town. The entrance to the site is on the right at the bottom of the first hill.
