The Nuraghe Voes stands on a slight slope on the Nule plateau. From a height of 700 metres, it dominates the surrounding area with its cultivated fields. It lies in an area rich in history and archaeology: dolmens, menhirs, Nuraghi with village, tombs of the giants, churches and much more.
The Nuraghe is one of the most imposing and best preserved in central-northern Sardinia and dates back to the period between the Middle Bronze age and the Late Bronze age (c. XVI-XI centuries B.C.). The site continued to be in use even at a later date.
It is a complex type and was built in granite blocks and consists of a central tower around which, at a later date, three secondary towers were built, joined by an imposing curvilinear curtain wall.
The Nuraghe incorporates a small rectangular courtyard, currently full of debris from the ruins.
The central tower, originally most likely with three rooms one on top of the other, nowadays preserves the circular central chamber with cupola covering (tholos), and stairway leading to the floor above.
The site can be reached from the Town of Nule. Take the SP7 towards Bitti for about 6 km; then turn right onto an unpaved road and follow this for about a few hundred metres until you are in front of the Nuraghe.
