The monument owes its name to the bats (tintirriolos) which probably occupied its nooks and crannies over time.
The Nuraghe was a complex, but currently only the central tower is visible (fortified tower), which stands at least 4.5 m above the level of collapsed rubble. It is part of the Bortigali Nuragic circuit.
On the trunk road SS 131 towards Sassari, just before the 149 km mark, head for Mulargia. Go through the town and continue for another 3 km, passing a paved road on your left, as far as the swerve in the road which leads to the Nuraghe Orolo, marked with a tourist sign. Follow this road, passing the fork for the Nuraghe Orolo and continue on beyond the Carrarzu Iddia complex for a total of 1.3 km. The monument is on your left on private property behind a closed gate. You need to leave your car by the side of the road.
