Su Nuraxi Samatzai

Foto di Andrea Mura

The site can be found in the Domu is Abis district above a small hill, about 1 km from the town of Samatzai.

This is a large Nuraghe compoundbuilt using blocks of marl-limestone andmostly underground. The central tower is surrounded by a stronghold with four towers. Numerous circular structures are visible around the stronghold, and most likely they are the remains of theturreted defence wall which surrounded the stronghold and the huts of the adjacent village. Crossing the mainly buried entrance to the central tower you can access a circular room whose roof is almost completely intact.

Leave Samatzai and head towards Segariu. After about 1.3 km, leave your car an head up the hill on your left, following the pathway.
