Murales, Silanus

Silanus is a town of no more than two thousand inhabitants in the historical region of Marghine. The town is mostly famous for being the birthplace of the Sardinian poet Francesco Mura.

In the early years of the new millennium, numerous murals started to appear on the walls of the town’s buildings. These early murals are part of a desire by the local administration to enhance the traditions, places and people who have lived in the town.

The murals generally focus on a rural theme, as we can see from some of the works produced by Pina Monne, most of which were created using the trompe l’oeil technique. Particularly important is the mural dedicated to Francesco Mura, produced by Gian Battista Loi and Fernando Mussone.
