The Forest of Addolì lies between the areas of Seulo and Sadali, in the province of Nuoro.
This is a vast woodland area, abundant in rivers and waterfalls, with caverns, valleys and rock walls.
The geology of the area is characterised by the presence of dolomite and limestone rock. Due to the nature of these rocks, subject to karstic phenomena, there are a number of caves. The most famous ones, which can be visited, are the Is Janas cave, in Sadali and Domus de Janas, in Seulo.
The forest consists mainly of holm oak, cork and Mediterranean shrub. Plants typically found in these environments like the oleander grow close to the rivers.
Another important feature is the presence of different rivers and waterfalls, the most well-known ones being the natural monument of Su Stampu e Su Turrunu.
This waterfall stems from the waters of the rio Longufresu with a drop of 16 metres, falling into a small cave with a pond.
The whole forest is full of paths and walks, some of them extremely panoramic, which pass over narrow ledges along the wide valley’s rock walls.
