The beach of Mari Ermi stretches along the coast in the municipality of Cabras, in western Sardinia, in the province of Oristano.
The beach extends for around 2.5 kilometres, enclosed between the sea and the small pond of the same name. There is a narrow dune belt on this strip of sand colonised by typical herbaceous plants in the sandy environment.
The clear sand a mixture of mid-fine sediments and various sizes of white quartz is what makes this place unique.
The sea water is clear and transparent with low seabeds which gradually break down towards the open sea.
The sea becomes rougher when the Mistral wind is blowing and it is essential to take care when swimming.
There are restaurants, kiosks and bathing services on the beach. The sandy shore can be reached across bridges and raised walkways which cross over the wetland and dunes, protecting these environments from pedestrian activity.
