The beach of Cea with its typical red emerging rocks “Is Scoglius Arrubius”, can be found in the municipalities of Tortolì and Bari Sardo, in Ogliastra, in the province of Nuoro.
The area is cordoned off to the south by a formation of dark coloured flat rocks, known as Punta Niedda. Slightly further on, emerge the volcanic rocks of the Teccu plateau.
The sandy shore extends for about a kilometre, composed of almost imperceptible fine white sand with a low seabed spreading well out to sea.
The water is transparent and with emerald-green shades which contrast with the famous emerging red porphyry rocks.
These rocks are the surfacing of a row of rocks which derive from the promontory of Punta ‘e Cea towards the coast and in the water.
In the same direction, around 300 metres from the shore, in the central sector of the beach we can find two sea stacks standing around 20 metres high, known as is Scoglius Arrubius (or Sea stacks of Cea).
The beach is surrounded by thick vegetation where juniper and typical essences of Mediterranean shrub stand out.
There are different kiosks and restaurants, as well as bathing services. The area is also equipped with walkways and services for the disabled.
