As you approach the Roccia dell’Orso, magnificent natural monument shaped by the wind in Sardinia, you’ll be lulled by the sound of the sea and the cicadas singing, immersed in uncontaminated nature, and exhilarated by the aroma of myrtle, broom and Mastic tree.
The imposing structure which lends its name to the entire promontory, overlooks the crystal-clear sea in the island’s extreme north.
Land of myths and legends, Capo d’Orso is perhaps the Homeric “Land of the Lestrigoni”, ferocious giants capable of frightening even the courageous and smart Ulysses.
In order to reach the iconic rock, just follow our tour guides who, once you’ve parked your car and bought your ticket, will accompany you along the half-kilometre walk which, from the slopes of the promontory, reaches as far as the core of the Orso, at a height of 520 metres.
From the summit of the headland you’ll take in the mysterious Maddalena islands, stage to a number of battles at sea. Further north, beyond the dangerous Strait of Bonifacio, you’ll catch a glimpse of the high mountains in Corsica, twin sister to Sardinia.
During the visit, which will last about three-quarters of an hour, you’ll discover uncontaminated nature, crystal-clear sea and Sardinia’s fortifications, typical of this area of hill forts, pirates and mercenary captains.
