The Bruncu Santoru Nature Park is situated in the area of Perdasdefogu, in the province of Nuoro.
The park is a vast forest area not far from the town centre.
The geology of the area is that of Tacchi d’Ogliastra with limestone and dolomite rock.
The park is covered with the essences of Mediterranean shrub with plants of holm oak, strawberry trees, juniper, phillyrea, heather, wild rosemary, honeysuckle, rockrose and thyme. Reforestation with pine trees has been done in some areas. In the areas closest to rivers, we can find oleander, alder, willow trees and salt cedars. The herbaceous plants include cyclamen and wild orchids.
With regard to the fauna, it is not uncommon to encounter Sardinian deer and mouflon, protected specimens reintroduced into these areas.
A number of marked nature trails start here with descriptions given on an extensive series of signs, and there are also different points of interest, such as springs, archaeological sites and geosites. The most well-known geosites in the area include the joints of Sa Brecca de is Tapparas, a crack in the rock set into the dolomitic limestone rocks that can be covered on foot.
The belvedere is also of considerable natural importance, located precisely on the peak of Bruncu Santoru (643 m a.s.l.) from where you can enjoy a great view of the peaks and surrounding valleys.
