The P.Ar.C., Paleo Archeo Centro Museum is in Genoni. It is a dynamic, new-concept museum with close links to the surrounding area.
The museum is split into three sections: palaeontology, archaeology and education.
In the palaeontology section a general overview of palaeontology and geology is provided, sufficient enough to understand the earth’s history. On display in this section is a collection of local fossils, including two blocks of sandstone covered in sea urchins.
The museum’s archaeological section describes the Nuragic, Punic and Roman discoveries made locally.
There is a model of the summit of the Santu Antine hill with the reconstruction of the Roman church, Punic fortifications, the Nuraghe and the well of Nuragic origin. This wing of the museum is rounded of by a diorama of the bottom of the well and reproductions of items found inside it.
The educational workshop for schools and families occupies a large room in the museum and is complete with chests and material to simulate a palaeontological and archaeological dig, and video clips showing the work of an archaeologist and palaeontologist.
One part of the space is set aside for manual activities to create moulds, hardcopy reproductions and the study of minerals. The workshop also has scientific tools for cleaning and preserving fossils.
