This wood is rich in centuries-old chestnut trees in the district of Ghenna e’ Creccu, in the municipality of Tonara, province of Nuoro.

The highest summit in the area is Ghenna e’ Creccu (1,095 m a.s.l.) with the neighbouring S’Arcu de Otazze (1,029 m a.s.l.) and S’Arcu Lazzarasa (967 m a.s.l.).

The mountain is immersed in the green of centuries-old chestnut tree specimens, together with walnut, hazelnut, oak and downy oak.
One specimen that stands out is a chestnut tree which is over 400 years old, immersed in a wood, marked by a road sign which is not always visible.

There are also several springs in the area, in particular, the Calavrige spring, whose water flows through the roots of a centuries-old chestnut tree.

The forest can be reached along a nature trail, a few kilometres from the sports field in via Su Nuratze, on the western outskirts of the town.
