The Sa Stiddiosa waterfall sits on the border between the municipal districts of Seulo and Gadoni. It can be found in the area of Sa Murta, along the Flumedosa river, the second longest river in Sardinia.
The place name literally means “dripping” and derives from the Sardo word “is stiddius“, referring to the water’s dripping effect which falls and creates the waterfall.
Sa Stiddiosa is a single waterfall of around 20 metres of sheer drop into the river. The water falls directly onto a fluvial bay, in a natural pool, cordoned off on one side by vertical walls with limestone formations from Sarcidano and on the other, by schistose formations with unusual, rounded shapes. The dripping on the rocky walls, covered in green vegetation, creates a unique and attractive sight.
Thanks to this constant presence of water, the walls are rich in limestone concretions, covered in moss and fern.
