Cane Malu is a natural pool in the sea of western Sardinia, in the area of Bosa.
The “pool” is dug out of the white trachyte rock, typical of the rocks on this stretch of coastline, in a scenario which brings to mind images of the moon’s surface.
Typical garigue vegetation grows at the top, above the cliff with bushes of Mastic tree, helichrysum and other essences of Mediterranean shrub.
The name appears to derive from the unusual form acquired by the rock which brings to mind a dog’s tail, especially when the sea is rough. The place name “Cane Malu” means “bad dog”.
Cane Malu sits on the tip of Cabu d’Aspu, and can be accessed along a path which, starting from the port at the mouth of the river Temo, runs alongside the sea, passing over the cliff.
