The beach of Cala ‘e Luas lies along the coastal area of Gairo, in the historical region of the Ogliastra, on the eastern coast of Sardinia.
The small cove extends for about 50 metres, enclosed in a narrow, rocky bay which is the natural mouth of the Rio Giuani Anesu.
The reefs are made of red porphyry rock and the sandy shoreline has mid-large grain sand and pebbles.
Luxuriant Mediterranean shrub grows around the cove with mastic tree and juniper.
The beach is fairly empty as it is not easy to reach. Indeed, after parking your car, you need to walk along a trekking path for about 900 metres to get to the cove.
The cove is part of the Site of Community Importance (SCI) “Area del Monte Ferru di Tertenia” (ITB020015), regulated by the Rete Natura 2000.
