Foto di Daniele Lai

Baulassa is an area in Ulassai, in the historical region of Ogliastra, in the province of Nuoro.

The area can be found in a wood of the vast Oasi di Protezione Faunistica in Taccu. The geology of the area features the presence of Dolomite rock typical of the Tacchi dell’Ogliastra.
The wood is mainly holm oak trees, with some large century-old examples. The tall shrub consists mainly of strawberry trees, phillyrea, heather and Mastic tree. In the areas of low shrub and garigue sees the appearance of rockrose, helichrysum and rosemary.

The rio Su s’Alixi crosses Baulassa and is equipped with a picnic area and tables, fire points, springs and an old shack, called the “baraccu”, known precisely as the Cuile Baulassa.

The site is an excellent point to stop off for a rest during a walk along the paths and routes that cross the area of Ulassai.
