Part of the Golgo plateau, not far from the Su Sterru chasm, the As Piscinas site features semi-natural pools dug out of a basaltic rock base which retains water.
The area was populated as far back as the Nuragic times, as is clear from the numerous Nuraghi in the surrounding area. So, we can presume that the pools were used in Nuragic times for the worship of water and only later as a watering hole for animals.
The site can easily be reached along the road leading to the Golgo plateau and following an unpaved road marked by a tourist road sign.
