S’Arcu e s’Orruargiu also known as s’Arcada Manna, lies in the region of Supramonte di Baunei, in the province of Nuoro.
This natural monument is represented by a large stone arch, standing around 40 metres in height, and created in the limestone rock wall.
The arch overlooks the valleys of the rivers Bacu Urutzo and Bacu Addas which, downstream, at this point, flows into the rio Bacu S’Orruargiu.
The scenery surrounding this panoramic spot features a holm oak forest, with its magnificent specimens, some of them centuries old and the undergrowth with juniper and other essences of the Supramonte shrub.
The arch can be reached along trekking paths for expert hikers. One of these paths is called S’Istrada Longa some stretches of which pass along narrow panoramic ledges which are not easy to walk along, but which offer unique panoramic views. Anyone looking to reach these places safely, should ensure they are accompanied by an Environmental Tour Guide of which there are many working in this field in Sardinia.
