The Villascema Park (or Biddascema) can be found in the district of Villacidro, on the edge of the Montimannu Forest, in the province of Sud Sardegna.
This park, on the banks of the rio Bidda Scema, is surrounded, from a geological point of view, by outcrops of ancient sandstone from the San Vito Formation. All around grows the luxuriant holm oak forest and Mediterranean shrub, which alternates with cultivated areas.
Indeed, the park is famous for its cherry orchards stretching across the valley. In springtime, the valley is a white-pink colour with the cherry blossom, offering a completely unique panorama. The red from the mature fruits then acts as a preamble to the Cherry festival held on the first Sunday in June.
Starting in the park, it is possible to follow different paths towards the mountain and forest of Montimannu, arriving at the mountainous regions and the waterfalls in the area.
The area is equipped with a spring with drinking water, stone tables and barbecue points for grilling.
The park is part of the Site of Community Importance (SCI) “Monte Linas – Marganai” (ITB041111), regulated by the Rete Natura 2000.
