The beach of Capo Ferrato lies along the coastal area of Muravera, in the historical region of the Sarrabus, on the eastern coast of Sardinia.
The place name refers principally to the small town that grew up just behind the promontory of the same name while the beach, which extends in its entirety for more than 7 and a half kilometres, changes name according to the maritime locations behind it (Iba sa Cresia, Iba de Ziu Franciscu, Piscina Rei, Costa Rei, Scoglio di Peppino etc.). In reality, it is a single large sandy shore with similar features.
The part known as “Capo Ferrato” is the one furthest north, next to the promontory of Porto Pirastu (often confused with this place name, which in reality relates to the small bay to the north of the promontory).
The sand on the shore is clear with mid-fine sized grains. A small dune belt extends at the back of the beach, colonised with herbaceous plants typically found along the coastline. These are followed by Mediterranean shrub.
The beach is easily accessible and in the summer provides bathing facilities.
