Casa Manno stems from the commitment of the city of Alghero and the Giuseppe Siotto Research Foundation, to commemorate the historian and politician from Alghero Giuseppe Manno and promote the city’s historical heritage.
In 2004, the administration purchased the site to create a museum and research centre dedicated to the historian and politician from Alghero.
The Museum’s collection has furniture, paintings and sculptures, as well as antique books, maps and manuscripts.
The Giuseppe Siotto Research Foundation dealt with the research and purchase of most of the items on display, which provides a glimpse of an era central to the formation of the Italian nation. Manno’s life and his writings reflect the events of the Italian people between the end of the Eighteenth and start of the Nineteenth centuries.
