The management building for the Ingurtosu mine sits in a dominating position at the entrance to the mining village. Its predominant location overlooking the land and its entrance symbolises the power of control exercised over employees and the mine itself.
Also known as the “castle”, it was built in 1870 on the wishes of the German engineer Hoffmann. The building reflects the neo-medieval style also used at that time for industrial buildings.
There are several floors in the building designed to cater for both the mine’s admin and technical offices and the manager’s home which was on the fourth floor.
