Sitting 50 metres above sea level, overlooking the town of Buggerru, it cuts through the Planu Sartu plateau for about a kilometre.
An imposing tunnel dug out of the hard rock. Its size was determined in 1892 with the use of a steam engine. This ingenious system, thanks to a futuristic rail network, replaced the slow and costly transportation with mules and other pack animals.
The tunnel is a kind of evocative labyrinth: made safe and with directions, nowadays it can be visited in complete safety. Its uniqueness consists of a continuous interaction with the cliff over the sea thanks to small tunnels and walkways carved into the rock which make ideal windows.
Thanks to these well-lit openings which alternate with the substratum darkness, you can enjoy picturesque views of the coast dropping straight into the sea and breathtaking panoramas.
The Galleria Henry can only be reached on foot. On arriving in Buggerru where you can easily park your car in the main square, follow the steps near the Pizzeria “La Baia – da Tore” and the Bar “Fratelli Orrù”. In a few minutes, after about one hundred metres, you come to the ticket office, and from here you can access the Galleria Henry.
