The church of San Pietro di Milis Piccinnu is a rural church in the countryside of Seneghe, although it is part of the ecclesiastical community of the town of Milis.
The building stands isolated in open countryside, close to the nuraghe of the same name.
It is the only surviving building of the ancient village of Milis Piccinnu, built by the inhabitants of Milis to escape from a supposed outbreak of the plague.
The oldest statement in the title dates back to the start of the XII century, as is clear from the first deed of the Condaghe di Santa Maria di Bonarcado. Indeed, the judge of Arborea Costantino I founded the Camaldolese of Bonarcado monastery affiliating it with the church of San Pietro di Milis Piccinnu.
There is no trace of the Late Medieval church if not on the facade and sides. Indeed, in the second half of the XIII century, the building was re-built from a single chamber layout using limestone ashlars.
In modern times, it was extended by demolishing the apse.
The facade features a double-arched window built into the wall and an architrave and lunette portal, framed by thick blocks of basalt, perhaps striped from the adjoining nuraghe.
There is a bell gable with ogival light.
The church stands at the crossroads between the country road 14 and Via San Lussorio and acts as a cornerstone between the numerous tancati (plots of land) which converge on it. It can only be accessed on foot and is hidden by the surrounding vegetation.
