The small church, built around 1930 with the incredible contribution from Pope XI, is dedicated to Saint Elisabeth of Hungary, declared saint by Pope Gregory IX in 1235; Elisabeth was an aristocrat of Magyar origin who, after being widowed, dedicated her life to charitable acts and joined the Third Order Franciscans.
The cosy, welcoming chapel stands on the trunk road S.S. 127 in Putzolu. Every August, a committee of locals from the hamlet organises prayer days and entertainment to commemorate the saint, a tradition that dates back years.
