{"id":32889,"date":"2023-12-21T11:55:09","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T10:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/monte-cuccuruddu-belvedere-and-pine-forest\/"},"modified":"2023-12-21T11:55:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T10:55:09","slug":"monte-cuccuruddu-belvedere-and-pine-forest","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/monte-cuccuruddu-belvedere-and-pine-forest\/","title":{"rendered":"Monte Cuccuruddu Belvedere and Pine Forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Monte Cuccuruddu<\/strong> is an ancient, <strong>extinct volcano<\/strong> in the municipality of <strong>Cheremule<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Sassari<\/strong>, and part of the historical region of <strong>Logudoro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>volcanic cone<\/strong> (680 m a.s.l.), easily reached from the town, offers a <strong>delightful landscape<\/strong>, crossed by <strong>paths<\/strong> and <strong>belvederes<\/strong>, and covered by a luxuriant <strong>pine forest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong>natural site<\/strong> is home to an old quarry where <strong>Cheremule<\/strong> was extracted.<br \/>\nThis rock, typically found in the area, takes its name from the town and is a <strong>lava stone<\/strong> with pumice structure. The stone\u2019s <strong>insulation properties<\/strong> were well known, and it was used in ancient times as <strong>a building material<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The quarry is currently inactive so you can enjoy <strong>Monte Cuccuruddu<\/strong> as a natural attraction, a walking destination in its pine forest, crossing the equipped pathway which leads right to the top.
