{"id":32814,"date":"2023-12-19T17:06:40","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T16:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/church-of-san-michele-di-salvenero\/"},"modified":"2023-12-19T17:06:40","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T16:06:40","slug":"church-of-san-michele-di-salvenero","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/church-of-san-michele-di-salvenero\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of San Michele di Salvenero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<strong> Church of San Michele<\/strong> can be found in <strong>Ploaghe<\/strong>, where the <strong>rural location of the village of Salvennero<\/strong> originally stood, abandoned at the <strong>end of the XVIII century<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a papal seal, the Church appeared as an <strong>abbatial seat in 1138 <\/strong>and connected to the Vallombrosians, although <strong>very few traces<\/strong> of the monastery<strong> exist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The church has a <strong>crux commissa<\/strong> and <strong>three apses<\/strong>. The <strong>single nave hall<\/strong> has a <strong>wooden ceiling<\/strong>, while the arms of the transept are <strong>cross vaulted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two building stages<\/strong> can be identified thanks to the <strong>differences in the faces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The medium-sized limestone calcarenite walls of the <strong>facade<\/strong>, the <strong>apses<\/strong> and <strong>transept<\/strong> date to <strong>an initial period<\/strong> following the technique of the workforce operating in the Giudicato of Torres at the <strong>end of the XI century<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The two-tone <strong>gables on the main facades <\/strong>and the<strong> sacristy <\/strong>typical of the workforces active in the nearby factory of Sant\u2019Antonio di Salvenero <strong>during the first quarter of the XIII century,<\/strong> date to a <strong>later period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>facade<\/strong>, which has a <strong>circular oculus<\/strong> cruciform light, is framed by corner blocks and is <strong>split into three transoms<\/strong>.
