{"id":32813,"date":"2023-12-19T17:06:40","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T16:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/church-of-san-pietro\/"},"modified":"2023-12-19T17:06:40","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T16:06:40","slug":"church-of-san-pietro","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/church-of-san-pietro\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of San Pietro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Church of San Pietro stands in the <strong>upper part of the town of Galtell\u00ec<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the end of the XI century A.D.,<\/strong> building work <strong>started<\/strong>, <strong>and was then interrupted due to a lack of funds<\/strong>, on the <strong>Cathedral of Galtell\u00ec<\/strong>, whose <strong>remains <\/strong>of the apse facade are <strong>still visible<\/strong> opposite the church porch of the Church of San Pietro.<\/p>\n<p>Following the interruption to the work, the church of San Pietro housed the <strong>bishop\u2019s chair until 1495<\/strong>, when the diocese of Galtell\u00ec was incorporated into the archdiocese of Cagliari.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, the church layout included a <strong>crux commissa with a single nave hall<\/strong>. <strong>At the start of the XIII century,<\/strong> the walls were embellished with a <strong>cycle of frescoes<\/strong>, <strong>now mostly lost,<\/strong> following the construction of two side naves.<\/p>\n<p>The frescoes, produced by <strong>workforces from Lazio<\/strong>, are arranged on <strong>two orders <\/strong>and show on the left, scenes taken from the <strong>Old Testament<\/strong>, and, on the right, scenes taken from the <strong>New Testament<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":21,"featured_media":26817,"template":"","tipologia":[979,1008],"categoria":[1023,1027],"tematica":[1030,1033],"class_list":["post-32813","place","type-place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tipologia-chiesa-en","tipologia-chiesa-romanica-en","categoria-architectural-asset","categoria-historical-artistic-asset","tematica-architecture","tematica-art"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Church of San Pietro - Idese<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/church-of-san-pietro\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_GB\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Church of San Pietro - Idese\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"The Church of San Pietro stands in the upper part of the town of Galtell\u00ec.
