{"id":30137,"date":"2023-09-28T12:12:50","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T10:12:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/parco-di-santa-barbara\/"},"modified":"2023-09-28T12:12:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T10:12:50","slug":"parco-di-santa-barbara","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/parco-di-santa-barbara\/","title":{"rendered":"Parco di Santa Barbara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Santa Barbara Nature Park<\/strong> lies about three kilometres from the town of <strong>Villagrande Strisaili<\/strong>, immersed in the heart of the <strong>Ogliastra<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Nuoro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There are numerous exhilarating scents from <strong>aromatic plants<\/strong> found here such as <strong>thyme<\/strong> and <strong>wild rosemary<\/strong>. There are also <strong>medicinal plants<\/strong>, like <strong>gentian<\/strong> and <strong>digitalis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The reserve is home to a wide variety of typical Sardinian plants like the <strong>cork oak<\/strong> and <strong>holm oak<\/strong>, many of them <strong>centuries old<\/strong>. The undergrowth consists of <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> essences, mainly <strong>myrtle<\/strong> and <strong>strawberry tree<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Park also has an abundance of water, with <strong>brooks <\/strong>and different natural <strong>springs<\/strong> spread across the area.<\/p>\n<p>Another important feature of the wood is its archaeological importance. Indeed, inside it has seven <strong>tombs of giants<\/strong> and a <strong>megalithic tomb<\/strong>, the remains of <strong>Nuraghi<\/strong>, <strong>sacred wells<\/strong> and the relevant <strong>villages<\/strong>.
