{"id":30124,"date":"2023-09-26T13:30:35","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T11:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/baccu-sa-figu\/"},"modified":"2023-09-26T13:30:35","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T11:30:35","slug":"baccu-sa-figu","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/baccu-sa-figu\/","title":{"rendered":"Baccu sa Figu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Baccu sa Figu<\/strong> is a wooded area in the district of <strong>Castiadas<\/strong>, in the historical region of <strong>Sarrabus<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Sud Sardegna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The area is part of the more extensive<strong> Castiadas Forest<\/strong> connected to the <strong>forestry compound of the Monti dei Sette Fratelli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>forest<\/strong> grows on soil originating from the <strong>granite rock<\/strong> typical of <strong>Sarrabus<\/strong>, and of <strong>ancient Palaeozoic origin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>flora<\/strong> is characterised mostly by <strong>holm oak<\/strong>, <strong>cork oak<\/strong>, <strong>wild olive<\/strong> and <strong>juniper<\/strong>. The <strong>undergrowth<\/strong> and <strong>shrub<\/strong> include <strong>myrtle<\/strong>, <strong>mastic tree<\/strong>, <strong>strawberry tree<\/strong>, <strong>thyme<\/strong>, <strong>lavender<\/strong> and <strong>heather<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From a <strong>fauna<\/strong> point of view, it is not uncommon to spot <strong>boar<\/strong>, <strong>rabbits<\/strong>, <strong>hares<\/strong>, <strong>martens<\/strong> and <strong>wild cats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The area has an abundance of <strong>water<\/strong>. Indeed, the <strong>rio Baccu sa Figu<\/strong> stemming from the <strong>spring<\/strong> of the same name, flows through here.<\/p>\n<p>This area, given the proximity of the centre of <strong>Castiadas<\/strong>, was, in the past, strongly subject to human activities including the <strong>production of charcoal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Baccu sa Figu<\/strong> is part of the <strong>Parco Regionale dei Sette Fratelli &#8211; Monte Genis<\/strong>, extending for around 60 thousand hectares across the municipalities of Burcei, Castiadas, Maracalagonis, Quartucciu, Quartu Sant&#8217;Elena, San Vito, Sinnai, Villasalto and Villasimius, making it <strong>one of Sardinia\u2019s largest parks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The park is also part of the <strong>Sites of Community Importance<\/strong> (SCI) &#8220;<strong>Monte dei Sette Fratelli e Sarrabus<\/strong>&#8221; (ITB041106), regulated by the <strong>Rete Natura 2000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the area is <strong>equipped<\/strong> with <strong>tables<\/strong>, <strong>small bridges<\/strong> and <strong>areas for lighting a fire<\/strong>, making it a comfortable <strong>spot for a picnic<\/strong>.
