This small cave can be found at the foot of the crag overhanging the town of Baunei.<\/p>\n
Its name means “fairy cave”<\/strong>, with reference to the mysterious<\/strong> carved decorations adorning the floor<\/strong>. 18 channels<\/strong> of varying size branch off from a main dip which is a few centimetres deep. Some of them end with smaller cupels. These decorations can be attributed to the Late Neolithic period<\/strong> and can be compared to similar phenomena found on the Peninsula and in the North and South of Europe. The direct or mediated contacts between the island and the European continent were, at the time, linked mainly to trading in valuable obsidian core found in Sardinia and only a few other sites.<\/p>\n During archaeological digs carried out at the site, the area was cordoned off and explanatory panels<\/strong> were put up.
