{"id":30086,"date":"2023-09-26T09:55:26","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T07:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/monte-grighine-felling-area\/"},"modified":"2023-09-26T09:55:26","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T07:55:26","slug":"monte-grighine-felling-area","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/monte-grighine-felling-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Monte Grighine Felling Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Monte Grighine<\/strong> is located between the municipalities of <strong>Ruinas<\/strong>, <strong>Villaurbana<\/strong>, <strong>Siamanna<\/strong>, <strong>Siapiccia<\/strong> and <strong>Fordongianus<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIts maximum height is <strong>674 m a.s.l<\/strong>. (<em>Punta Grighine<\/em> or <em>Cuccuru Mannu<\/em>). When the skies are clear, this peak offers an extensive panorama spanning from <strong>Giare<\/strong>, to <strong>Montiferru<\/strong> and to <strong>Gennargentu<\/strong>, as far as the <strong>Golfo di Oristano<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It mainly has a <strong>metamorphic rock<\/strong> <strong>geology<\/strong>, mostly <strong>schist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The mountain is home to a <strong>felling area<\/strong> which is an <strong>experimental nature site. <\/strong>Here, <strong>forestry<\/strong> and <strong>arboriculture<\/strong> tests are carried out on wood. The experimental plant was created and is run by the <strong>Universities of Sassari <\/strong>and <strong>Cagliari<\/strong>, with a view to examining the <strong>bush<\/strong> or <strong>tree<\/strong> bearing of <strong>cork oak<\/strong>. The experimental area extends for around 700 hectares.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>vegetation<\/strong> varies depending on <strong>height<\/strong> and the <strong>exposure of the slopes. <\/strong>In the past, the <strong>forestry-pastoral activities<\/strong>, <strong>reforestation<\/strong> and, unfortunately, the numerous and periodical <strong>fires<\/strong> have dramatically affected the growth of the flora.<\/p>\n<p>Around the felling area, are <strong>native forests<\/strong> of <strong>holm oak<\/strong> and <strong>downy oak<\/strong>. The <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> is represented with all its main species, such as <strong>mastic tree<\/strong>, <strong>myrtle<\/strong>, <strong>phillyrea<\/strong>, <strong>heather<\/strong> and <strong>strawberry tree<\/strong>.
