{"id":30002,"date":"2023-09-15T11:30:16","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/parco-di-terramaini\/"},"modified":"2023-09-15T13:06:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T11:06:13","slug":"parco-di-terramaini","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/parco-di-terramaini\/","title":{"rendered":"Parco di Terramaini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Terramaini Park<\/strong> is an <strong>urban park<\/strong> in <strong>Cagliari<\/strong>, within the <strong>metropolitan city area<\/strong>, in <strong>southern Sardinia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Park is in the <strong>north zone of the city<\/strong>, in the area on the border with the <strong>municipality of Pirri<\/strong>. It covers a surface area of <strong>around eleven hectares<\/strong>, running along the banks of the <strong>Riu Saliu<\/strong> (channel of Terramaini).<\/p>\n<p>This green area was created recently and was opened in <strong>May 2006<\/strong>, following a long <strong>period of re-qualification<\/strong> of the area which began in the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>The park is almost entirely covered by <strong>vast green lawns<\/strong>, surrounded by hedges of <strong>typical essences of Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> , such as <strong>myrtle<\/strong>, <strong>carob<\/strong>, <strong>olive<\/strong>, <strong>rosemary<\/strong>, <strong>phillyrea<\/strong>, <strong>strawberry tree<\/strong>, <strong>pine<\/strong> and <strong>mastic tree<\/strong>. There are also some species from other geographical areas such as <strong>palms<\/strong>, <strong>ficus<\/strong> and <strong>ornamental plants<\/strong>. Precisely on the foliage of the palms and the tallest trees, a number of <strong>parakeet families<\/strong> and multi-coloured <strong>parrots<\/strong> living in the park have found their home.<\/p>\n<p>In the northern part of the park, you\u2019ll find a <strong>small wetland<\/strong> now the home of different species of bird, including a small colony of <strong>pink flamingos<\/strong>. The pool is protected on its banks by <strong>rushes<\/strong> and a long <strong>wooden walkway<\/strong> offering a glimpse of the birds without creating disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the park is an <strong>area for dogs<\/strong>, isolated from the rest of the park by a hedge with enclosure.
