{"id":29994,"date":"2023-09-15T11:30:14","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/nuraghe-corvos\/"},"modified":"2023-09-15T13:06:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T11:06:11","slug":"nuraghe-corvos","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/nuraghe-corvos\/","title":{"rendered":"Nuraghe Corvos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Corvos di Florinas<strong>,<\/strong> seemingly a single tower, is a Nuraghe complex whose <strong>two-tone<\/strong> <strong>central tower<\/strong> is preserved in excellent condition with the first layer in limestone and the second in trachyte.\u00a0Unusually, the monument was <strong>restored in ancient times<\/strong> following the collapse of the upper wall structures or due to the need to create an upper floor.<\/p>\n<p>The better-preserved main tower<strong><\/strong> has a circular layout and was built at the base with roughly cut large <strong>blocks of limestone<\/strong>; dark <strong>trachyte ashlars<\/strong> were placed on top of these during restoration work.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as you cross the threshold, you\u2019ll see the unusual <strong>anti-clockwise staircase<\/strong> which starts on the right of the corridor; the stairs take you to top of the tower where scant <strong>remains of the upper room<\/strong> have been preserved. The corridor leads to the room which preserves the 5-metre-high <strong>tholos intact<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe fortress included two towers but nowadays their remains are only just visible in the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the road from Florinas as far as the church of Sant\u2019Antonio and then head south.
