{"id":29992,"date":"2023-09-15T11:30:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/capo-ferro-lighthouse\/"},"modified":"2023-09-15T13:06:10","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T11:06:10","slug":"capo-ferro-lighthouse","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/capo-ferro-lighthouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Capo Ferro Lighthouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sitting above the <strong>Capo Ferro<\/strong> promontory, the <strong>Lighthouse<\/strong> of the same name dominates the entire area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Construction of the lighthouse<\/strong> began in <strong>1858<\/strong> and the work <strong>was completed in 1861<\/strong>. It is a <strong>rectangular, two-storey building <\/strong>, topped by the<strong>truncated cone tower<\/strong> housing the lantern. Nowadays, the two floors in the building are home to the families of the two lighthouse keepers who still operate the lighthouse.<\/p>\n<p>The light was <strong>electrified<\/strong> in <strong>1938<\/strong>. With its intermittent red light reaching as far as 8 nautical miles, it is a <strong>landing light complete with radio beacon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Capo Ferro area features a large number of coves, small islands and shallows.
