{"id":29980,"date":"2023-09-15T11:30:10","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T09:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/church-of-santa-chiara\/"},"modified":"2023-09-15T13:06:08","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T11:06:08","slug":"church-of-santa-chiara","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/church-of-santa-chiara\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of Santa Chiara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The church can be found in the <strong>Stampace<\/strong> neighbourhood and stands at the top of a flight of steps which carry on and lead to the Santa Croce Stronghold.<\/p>\n<p>The original layout dates to the XIII-XIV centuries; indeed, the church replaced the <strong>chapel<\/strong> dedicated to <strong>Santa Margherita<\/strong>, which included the convent next door. A <strong>community of the Poor Clares<\/strong> lived here right up until the end of the XIX century.<\/p>\n<p>The church of Santa Chiara is in <strong>Baroque style<\/strong> from the <strong>XVII century<\/strong>. Two quadrangular lights and portal with architrave in the same shape open out onto the plain <strong>facade<\/strong>, with <strong>double inflection end point<\/strong> known as \u201ccurve-shaped pediment\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Opening out onto the barrel-vaulted <strong>hall<\/strong> are two side <strong>chapels<\/strong> and rectangular <strong>apse<\/strong> with seventeenth-century <strong>high altar<\/strong>, the work of <strong>Nicola Caso<\/strong> from Campania.
