It also carved out the <strong>imposing cliffs<\/strong> of <strong>limestone rock<\/strong>, which formed around 23 million years ago, when most of Sardinia was still under water.<\/p>\n<p>The church of San Sebastiano, stands in the centre of the lake, on the island of the same name. The island is a natural pillar of rock, only accessible from the lake.
