{"id":29943,"date":"2023-08-30T12:17:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-30T10:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/cala-di-torre-argentina\/"},"modified":"2023-08-30T12:17:57","modified_gmt":"2023-08-30T10:17:57","slug":"cala-di-torre-argentina","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/cala-di-torre-argentina\/","title":{"rendered":"Cala di Torre Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Torre Argentina<\/strong> can be found in the municipality of <strong>Bosa<\/strong>, on <strong>Sardinia\u2019s central-western<\/strong> coast, in the historical region of <strong>Planargia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the cove takes its name from the <strong>promontory of the same name <\/strong>(32 m a.s.l.), dominated for over five centuries by <strong>a coastal tower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the base of the promontory, made up of <strong>volcanic rocks<\/strong> formed following <strong>eruptions of ash <\/strong>and<strong> lava flows<\/strong>, we find this extremely unusual cove. The <strong>white, welded tuff cliffs<\/strong> are dotted with <strong>basalt rocks<\/strong> and <strong>flat reefs<\/strong>, with an almost lunar appearance. These rocks, give the <strong>sea<\/strong> its <strong>intense cobalt blue colour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The cove has alternating <strong>sandy stretches<\/strong> and stretches of<strong> pebbles<\/strong> or <strong>flat rocks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>small volcanic rock island<\/strong> standing at a maximum height of 11 m a.s.l. known as \u201c<strong><em>isola de sas crabas<\/em><\/strong>\u201d (<strong>island of goats<\/strong>) emerges at fifty metres from the shore.<br \/>\nGrowing lushly around the cove and on the promontory, we find <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> with <strong>rosemary<\/strong>, <strong>myrtle<\/strong>, <strong>rockrose<\/strong> and <strong>helichrysum<\/strong>, alternating with areas covered in grass.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>tower<\/strong> was built for defensive purposes at the <strong>end of the XVI century<\/strong>; numerous different <strong>trekking paths start from here<\/strong> along the coast and lead to other important stretches of this vast expanse of coastline.<br \/>\nThe <strong>Torre Argentina cove<\/strong> is part of the <strong>Sites of Community Importance<\/strong> (SCI) &#8220;<strong>Hinterland and coastal area between Bosa, Capo Marargiu and Porto Tangone<\/strong>&#8221; (ITB020041), regulated by the <strong>Rete Natura 2000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":29023,"template":"","tipologia":[1065,1066],"categoria":[1022],"tematica":[1031],"class_list":["post-29943","place","type-place","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tipologia-cliff-of-geological-importance","tipologia-shoreline","categoria-naturalistic-asset","tematica-nature"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Cala di Torre Argentina - Idese<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/cala-di-torre-argentina\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_GB\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Cala di Torre Argentina - Idese\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Torre Argentina can be found in the municipality of Bosa, on Sardinia\u2019s central-western coast, in the historical region of Planargia.
