{"id":29941,"date":"2023-08-30T12:17:55","date_gmt":"2023-08-30T10:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/cala-luna-2\/"},"modified":"2023-08-30T12:17:55","modified_gmt":"2023-08-30T10:17:55","slug":"cala-luna-2","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/cala-luna-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Cala Luna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cala Lunga<\/strong> is a<strong> nature site<\/strong> on the <strong>western coast<\/strong> of the <strong>Sant\u2019Antioco peninsula<\/strong>, on the border between the <strong>municipality of the same name<\/strong> and <strong>Calasetta<\/strong>, in the province of <strong>Sud Sardegna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>name<\/strong> derives from the <strong>long inlet of fluvial origin<\/strong>, carved out of the <strong>Rio di Cala Lunga<\/strong> between <strong>volcanic rocks<\/strong> known as <strong>welded tuff<\/strong>.<br \/>\nFrom a <strong>geomorphological<\/strong> point of view, this kind of <strong>inlet<\/strong>, is known as \u201c<strong>ria<\/strong>\u201d, from the Spanish term meaning <strong>fluvial valleys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the <strong>end of the bay<\/strong> is a <strong>beach<\/strong> about 100 metres wide and 80 metres deep, surrounded on the sides by <strong>tall cliffs<\/strong> and a <strong>dune system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>shoreline<\/strong> has <strong>large-grain sand<\/strong> combined with <strong>shells<\/strong> and <strong>fragments of coral<\/strong>, with <strong>ochre yellow, grey and pink colours<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe <strong>seabeds<\/strong> are mainly <strong>rocky<\/strong>, <strong>shallow<\/strong> and slope gradually out to sea.
