{"id":29879,"date":"2023-08-18T12:13:27","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T10:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/capo-pecora\/"},"modified":"2023-08-18T12:13:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T10:13:27","slug":"capo-pecora","status":"publish","type":"place","link":"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/en\/place\/capo-pecora\/","title":{"rendered":"Capo Pecora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Capo Pecora<\/strong> is the start of the stretch of coastline in <strong>Sardinia<\/strong> identified as <strong>Costa Verde<\/strong>, in the area of <strong>Arbus<\/strong>. This site is a natural oasis, far from any built-up or more popular areas.<\/p>\n<p>The cape presents a <strong>granite promontory<\/strong> with moderate heights of 8 m a.s.l. The <strong>granites<\/strong> are a pinkish colour and blend into the geological context of the hinterland, mainly featuring <strong>limestone rocks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To the south, we find the large beach of <strong>Capo Pecora<\/strong> (<strong>Sa Piana de Serra<\/strong>). The backshore, unfortunately eroded by the excessive presence of walkways, has <strong>grass areas<\/strong> and <strong>bushes<\/strong> of <strong>Mediterranean shrub<\/strong> and typical coastal essences. These tend to cover the low dunes and flower in springtime.<\/p>\n<p>The beach has <strong>pebbles<\/strong> and<strong> golden, large-grain sand<\/strong><strong><\/strong>, in contrast with the crystalline colours of the sea.<\/p>\n<p>To the north, we find some <strong>small reefs<\/strong>, exposed to the <strong>Mistral<\/strong> winds, which alternate with small <strong>pebble coves<\/strong>. The most well-known is the <strong>Spiaggia delle Uova (The Egg Beach)<\/strong> (<strong>Cala Is Tramatzus<\/strong>), where the pebbles have been smoothed by the sea to make them look like <strong>large eggs<\/strong>. On the reef to the north, we can also see \u201c<strong>Sa Roca e S&#8217;\u00c0chibi<\/strong>\u201d, an unusually shaped granite rock formed by the effects of atmospheric agents.<\/p>\n<p>The entire area is part of the <strong>Sito di Interesse Comunitario<\/strong> (SIC) &#8220;<strong>Capo Pecora&#8221;<\/strong> (ITB040030), formerly <strong>Zona Speciale di Conservazione (Special Conservation Area)<\/strong> (ZSC), regulated by the <strong>Rete Natura 2000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Its <strong>important biodiversity<\/strong> is what gives it its naturalistic value. From a flora point of view, we can find the endemic species, the <strong>Palestine Oak<\/strong>, as well as various other typical species found in sandy environments and on cliffs.<\/p>\n<p>From a fauna point of view, the area is also an ideal <em>habitat<\/em> for birds like the <strong>Peregrine falcon<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>European shag<\/strong>, as well as being home to a community of\u00a0<strong>Sardinian deer<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIt is also well-known for its <strong>marine fauna<\/strong> with the presence of <strong>sand steenbras<\/strong>, <strong>mullet<\/strong>, <strong>gilthead bream<\/strong>, <strong>octopus<\/strong>, <strong>greater amberjack<\/strong>, <strong>diplodus<\/strong>, <strong>European seabass<\/strong> and <strong>sea urchins<\/strong>, of which it is an experimental area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":0,"template":"","tipologia":[976],"categoria":[1022],"tematica":[1031],"class_list":["post-29879","place","type-place","status-publish","hentry","tipologia-area-di-interesse-naturalistico-en","categoria-naturalistic-asset","tematica-nature"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Capo Pecora - Idese<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/idese.cultura.gov.it\/place\/capo-pecora\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_GB\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Capo Pecora - Idese\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Capo Pecora is the start of the stretch of coastline in Sardinia identified as Costa Verde, in the area of Arbus.
