The site sits at around 800 metres north-east of the Toscono Nuragic compound and at less than 700 metres to the east of the tombs of the giants of Achileddu with which the Nuraghe Porcarzos were probably in close contact.<\/p>\n

It is a compound type Nuraghe,\u00a0with a fortified tower at the centre of a quatrefoil stronghold<\/strong>\u00a0which includes a rectangular open-air courtyard.<\/p>\n

Only the eastern tower is still distinguishable, accessible from a courtyard along a corridor with steps visible on the last stretch.
\nThe second room in the fortified tower is accessible via the large window on the first floor
\nThe layout of the room is circular and is an unusual construction<\/strong>, to date found in the Nuraghe Oes di Giave<\/a> and in a few other cases, as its roof is not a tholos<\/em>, but wooden inserts resting on ringed recesses carved into the wall of the room itself.<\/strong> One of these recesses reaches for around a metre below the ground level of the corridor and another one for two metres upwards.
\nThere were at least three<\/strong> overlapping cells.<\/strong> Due to the fact that the first room is completely underground, it can be assumed there was a remaining height in the central tower of at least 13 metres from the ground level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Nuraghe will soon be the subject of restoration work financed by the Ministry of Culture which will give it visibility and make it more accessible.<\/p>\n

Take the old country road, SP Borore-Dualchi to reach the site when you leave the town. The Nuraghe Bighinzones will come into view on your left after 500 metres and is signposted. Continue along the same road for about 500 metres as far as a detour on your left with indications for the Nuraghe Porcarzos. Turn here and continue on for another 1.5 km. You\u2019ll find the Nuraghe on your right, preceded by a gate that can be opened and shut.<\/p>\n
